On January 28, Australia was stunned by eight runs in Brisbane thanks to an incredible fast bowling display by injured pace bowler Shamar Joseph, who helped his team pull off one of the biggest upsets in Test history.
Four players, including Joseph, made their Test series debuts for the West Indies, who traveled to Australia with an underperforming squad for the Test series.
They were defeated in three days in Adelaide last week, and they were predicted to lose the day-night Test in Brisbane in the same manner.
However, the West Indies achieved their first triumph in Australia since they last experienced victory in Perth in 1997, bowling Australia out for 207 in the second session on Sunday.
Joseph was brilliant on Sunday, finishing with a 7-68 score in just his second Test match after bowling 11.5 overs at a fierce pace.
Australia started the day at 60-2, led by Steve Smith (who scored an incredible 91 runs off the bat) and Cameron Green (who appeared at ease against Kemar Roach and Alzarri Joseph).
Shamar Joseph did not bowl on Saturday and did not enter the attack until 45 minutes into the first session. Joseph was forced to retire hurt on Saturday night after being struck on the toe during the second innings.
After Green was bowled out by him for a chop, he bowled Travis Head for his second first-ball duck of the game with a gorgeous yorker.
Australia was cruising at 113-2 when they were suddenly reduced to 113-4, but Smith did not seem to mind as he reached his 50th century.
Even though the ball popped out of Athanaze's hands at third slip, Joseph struck again, sending Australia down to 132-5, 84 runs short of victory. Mitchell Marsh edged to Alick Athanaze.
Australia was down 136-6 when Alex Carey was clean bowled by a thunderbolt that clocked 145 km/h and crashed into off stump.
After deciding that attacking was the best way to win, Mitchell Starc blasted 21 runs off of just 14 balls before attempting one big hit too many and giving up a cover to Kevin Sinclair.
After getting an advantage over a diving Joshua Da Silva behind the stumps, Cummins was the next to go.
Following the interval, Alzarri Joseph asserted that Nathan Lyon was caught behind, and Shamar Joseph completed the innings by bowling Josh Hazlewood through the gate and outpacing him in pace.
